Colwyn Bay's annual Bonfire and Fireworks night has been called off for this weekend after organisers said it was too dangerous to proceed in light of Storm Ciarán warnings and the already sodden ground at the venue following weeks of intermittent rain.
The Bay of Colwyn Town Council made the decision ahead of the planned event in Eirias Park on Sunday November 5th.
Cllr Hannah Fleet and Cllr Chris Hughes said, "This decision has been taken on safety grounds, due to the forecasted heavy rainfall over the next 24 to 36 hours.
"Furthermore, the already waterlogged ground could cause safety concerns for those attending and cause potential damage to the park."
