Colwyn Bay FC striker Joe gets rowing for Movember

Seagulls' striker Joe Chaplin is taking part in a rowing marathon to raise money for the 'Movember' charity push in support of men's mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

Joe, who is a teacher at Ysgol Bryn Elian in the Bay, and six other members of the Pilgrim Fitness gym in Abergele, are taking part in the marathon next Friday (November 13th) and will each be rowing the marathon distance of 26.2 miles on the gym's rowing machines.

Joe says: "I'm expecting it to take me between 3 and 4 hours. I've never rowed for that long before so it is going to be a challenge, but having had no football for so long it has been something else to focus on and get my teeth into.

"We have set a target of raising a £1,000, but we are already well on the way to reaching that with the donations that have come in, so we are hoping to do much better than that."

Joe has returned to the Seagulls after a very successful loan spell at Gresford Athletic last season and, once Tier 2 football in Wales is able to get going again, he will be hoping to add to the 20 appearances and four goals (including super match winners away to Bangor City and Llandudno) that he has already notched up for Colwyn Bay since signing from Airbus UK last year.
