Grŵp Llandrillo Menai is set to welcome hundreds of visitors to its campuses next month as it hosts a series of free community fun days for families across North Wales.

The events will take place on Saturday, May 9, at Coleg Llandrillo Rhos-on-Sea campus from 10am to 2pm, and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor Pwllheli campus from 11am to 2pm.

Both days promise a packed programme of activities for all ages, with hands-on demonstrations, games, and stalls run by local businesses and charities. Visitors will also be able to explore the colleges’ facilities, meet staff, and get advice on courses, careers and training opportunities.

At the Rhos-on-Sea campus, families can get creative with activities including pottery pinch pots, building bird boxes and even mixing their own mocktails. Meanwhile, the Pwllheli event will feature special guests Keith Brymer Jones and Marj Hogarth, who will be taking a break from their work on Capel Salem to meet visitors.

The fun days build on a strong run of recent successes across the Grŵp, frequently highlighted on Bayside. Students have continued to excel in vocational competitions, with learners representing the region in national skills contests and achieving high pass rates across a wide range of courses.

There have also been notable achievements in engineering, performing arts and hospitality, with students gaining industry recognition and progressing into employment, apprenticeships and higher education. Community engagement has remained a key strength too, with campuses regularly hosting events, supporting local initiatives and working closely with employers across North Wales.

Organisers say the upcoming events are not only about showcasing courses, but also celebrating that success and strengthening links with the community.

The family fun days are aimed at a wide audience – from school pupils considering their next steps and parents wanting to explore facilities, to jobseekers, career changers and families simply looking for an enjoyable day out.

With free entry, food and drink available, and a welcoming atmosphere across both sites, the events are expected to attract large crowds.
