Conditions on some roads in North East Wales are said to be treacherous today with reports of snow and ice in Ruthin and along the Horseshoe Pass near Llangollen.

After a wet and damp start to the weekend, weather conditions for North West Wales and the North Wales coast could quickly deteriorate as a cold snap moves in and turns surface and ground water into ice.

Overnight Saturday into Sunday morning, temperatures are expected to drop to freezing point with ice beginning to form from as early as 8pm on Saturday evening.

As a result, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Saturday evening until 11am on Sunday.

This warns of some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

Furthermore the long term weather forecast warns of the possibility of further snow on Tuesday.

Yesterday the Met Office warned of the risk of snow in Colwyn Bay however the weather front pushed snow flurries towards the North East of the region.
