Colwyn Bay Football Club have confirmed a major step forward in their long-term development plans with the appointment of Daniel Skillen as Football Development Manager on a full-time basis.

Skillen brings a strong background in youth football, academy systems and education, and will play a central role in shaping the club’s player pathway structure. In his new position, he will combine responsibilities within the first-team coaching set-up while also overseeing the progress of the club’s Academy, helping to strengthen links between youth development and senior football.

The role is designed to support a “one club” philosophy across both the men’s and women’s teams, ensuring a consistent approach to development and progression throughout all levels at the club.

Colwyn Bay director of football Mike Wilde welcomed the appointment, describing it as an important milestone for the club’s future direction.

He said he was “delighted” to bring Skillen into the role, adding that the appointment represents a significant step forward in building a clearer and more effective pathway for emerging academy players.

Wilde said Skillen’s experience and vision would be vital in connecting the academy with the first team, helping to ensure talented young players are given the opportunity to progress and contribute at senior level, while also supporting long-term success across the club as a whole.

Skillen will officially take up his new position on June 1st 2026, ahead of what the club hopes will be an exciting new chapter in its development structure.
