The Llandudno Coastguard was called out yesterday afternoon regarding a casualty in difficulties in the sea near Colwyn Bay pier.
The casualty was spotted by a member of the public who pointed out their location to the first Coastguard on scene. This enabled the team to guide the lifeboat to the casualty who was taken on board the lifeboat and brought ashore.
A spokesperson explained: "The casualty was severely hypothermic and we assisted with casualty care until paramedics and the Coastguard helicopter arrived on scene. We cleared an area of beach for the Coastguard helicopter to land and then carried the casualty to the helicopter for onwards transport to Ysbyty Gwynedd.
"This was an excellent example of a multi agency effort resulting in a life being saved. Llandudno Coastguard Rescue Team, RNLI Llandudno Lifeboat, North Wales Police, Welsh Ambulance Service e and Coastguard Rescue 936 all worked together to provide the best possible care for this casualty."
If you are aware of anyone in any distress or danger anywhere around the coast, please call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
