More jobs and opportunities are on the cards in Mochdre after permission was granted for a light industrial unit to be changed into a gym on a 'safeguarded employment' site in the village.

Following the work and negotiations led by Chartered Surveyors Owen Devenport Ltd an application for change of use of an empty light industrial building to a gym set on the Creamery Business Park in Mochdre was accepted.

Due to the site’s location there was a need to demonstrate that it had been suitably marketed and that were was no demand for it for a ‘traditional’ employment use as the Council’s policy seeks to control the release of land on so called ‘safeguarded employment sites’.

Working with the estate agent for the property the company was able to demonstrate to the Council that there was a good case for releasing the building for the proposed use.

During the application Owen Devenport also addressed issues around parking and control of the proposed use to ensure that it would not have a harmful impact upon other users of the site or neighbouring residents.
