Bryn Elian to make more NHS equipment as donations rolls in

The generosity and spirit of communities across the Bay of Colwyn knows no bounds after local businesses, schools and community groups have come to the aid of local workers on the frontline against Covid-19.

In a fantastic show of unity, teachers at Ysgol Bryn Elian with the help of local people have been working tirelessly on making protective equipment and earlier this week the school batches of visors to NHS workers at Glan Clwyd Hospital.

Dave Humphreys, Headteacher said how proud he was of his teachers and the support people have shown from right across the area.

"The community’s generosity clearly knows no bounds. As I have mentioned before, because of requests from the community to financially help the school produce our visors and bags for the NHS we set up our just giving, crowd funding page.

"Our original £1000 target has been truly smashed and we have had nearly £3000 in donations. This money will help us to make many more products. We currently have orders of over 500 visors and 500 bags, with a reserve list.

"New materials for both products have been ordered which will allow us to catch up on the backlog, meaning we can then take further orders.

"We have had loads of photos sent to the school also from thankful doctors, nurses, pharmacists, Ambulance workers and paramedics all using the products made by Ysgol Bryn Elian. We will try to post as many of these as we can so that you can see your donations at work, where it is needed.

"Because of the generosity of the community and the fact that more money is still being donated, we are going to raise our target  to £3,500. If we can, we will be able to produce a lot more products to be sent out to the NHS and health care services."
