Footballers will be on the bench for a whole new reason in Llanrwst, thanks to a £250 grant from the North Wales Police and Community Trust (PACT).
As a result of over 150 children, aged between 5 and 18, their parents and grandparents attending various training sessions at Llanrwst United Juniors Football Club every week, the club has decided that benches are needed for the community to sit at the field.
PCSO 3914 Kelly Elliott said: “The field it is often used by families and local youth as it is accessible to all. It is used for other community events and engagements as well as football and having benches there will not only benefit the younger community but the older members of the community too.”
“This initiative will provide a safe environment where children can play and relax. It will also offer somewhere parents and grandparents can sit whilst their children play, delivering a safer neighbourhood and strengthening community bonds.”
As part of the PACT agreement it has been agreed that the club members take part in a litter pick. This will further involve the children into community engagement and instil a sense of pride within their town.
Llanrwst Town Council have also offered the use of their Trash Tractor as part of the community engagement plan.
