Police officers have taken action following reports of anti-social driving and noise issues at West Shore Car Park in Llandudno.

Local officers, supported by colleagues from the Roads Crime Unit, have continued patrols at the popular location following concerns from residents about motorists’ behaviour during evening hours.

During patrols on Monday evening, officers said the majority of people using the car park were behaving appropriately, with officers taking the opportunity to engage with motorists and offer advice in a positive way.

However, one vehicle was issued with a Section 59 notice under the Police Reform Act 2002 after an officer witnessed excessive noise coming from the vehicle.

A further incident was dealt with on Tuesday evening after reports of a vehicle being driven erratically and at speed around the car park. Following enquiries, officers located the vehicle and it was seized.

Two motorcycles were also seized later that evening due to the manner in which they were being ridden.

North Wales Police said it recognised that West Shore Car Park was a popular place for young people to meet and socialise, but warned action would continue against anyone whose driving put others at risk or caused disturbance.

A spokesperson said: “We understand that the car park is in a popular spot and that young persons will use it to socialise, however we will continue to act against any motorists committing driving offences, to ensure that residents aren’t subject to anti-social behaviour, collisions don't occur, people aren’t injured and property isn't damaged.”

The force added that work with local authority partners to tackle anti-social behaviour and improve the quality of life for residents and visitors was continuing.

A Section 59 notice targets vehicles and drivers involved in careless, inconsiderate or anti-social driving which causes alarm, distress or annoyance.

The notice remains active for 12 months and applies to both the driver and the vehicle. If either is involved in further anti-social driving during that period, police can seize the vehicle immediately.
