November 20, 2021 - 1063 views

One of North Wales' most anticipated TV shows returns to tomorrow night at 9pm and Bayside has been given a glimpse on what we might expect to see!

For the 21st series of I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! the team have returned to the historic Gwrych Castle in Abergele.  Ant & Dec will host live every night on ITV and ITV Hub.

Ten celebrities will be leaving their plush pads and luxuries far behind. Our celebrity campers will spend up to three weeks taking on the surroundings of the castle and Welsh countryside, with a whole host of surprises created just for them.

This year's celebrities are Pop Star and Presenter Frankie Bridge, Broadcaster and ex BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin, Music Producer Naughty Boy, TV Presenter and Journalist Richard Madeley, Olympic Gold Medalist Matty Lee, Paralympic Gold Medalist Kadeena Cox MBE, Football Legend David Ginola, Choreographer Dame Arlene Phillips, Radio 1Xtra DJ Snoochie Shy and Emmerdale Star Danny Miller.

 Meeting and Greeting

One by one four celebrities were driven through the Welsh mountains to arrive at a stately home.  David Ginola was the first to arrive followed by Kadeena Cox.

Kadeena asked David if he was nervous, David said he wasn’t and Kadeena joked she was scared of everything.

Arlene Phillips was next to join them followed by Matty Lee, they all got to know each other and wondered where the other celebrities were.

Then they all heard a helicopter approaching and realised they’d be getting in it.

More meeting and greeting!

One by one four celebrities were driven along the Welsh coastline to a house overlooking the sea.  Louise Minchin was the first to arrive followed by Naughty Boy.

Snoochie Shy arrived next and they all enjoyed hugging each other.

Danny Miller was the last to arrive, they immediately all began to wonder where everyone else was.  They then saw a helicopter flying towards them.

Danny commented “The idea of getting in that helicopter terrifies the life out of me.  The last thing I want to do is be sick all over the celebrities.”

Mid-air over the sea both helicopters passed each other and it was the first opportunity for both groups to see each other and wave.

The helicopter movements didn’t go down well with Danny and he firmly held a sick bag in his hand….just in case.

Walking the plank.

Louise, Naughty Boy, Snoochie and Danny saw the plank over the quarry for the first time as their helicopter landed nearby, they were all terrified.

Ant & Dec arrived to join them shortly afterwards and told them what would be happening.

Ant said: “This year is going to be tougher than ever, all the celebrities will face grueling challenges on their way to the castle to win the keys to the Castle.”

Dec added “And you will all face the first challenge, but not as a team.  Instead, you will be going head to head.  In this first challenge Louise you will face Danny and Naughty Boy you will face Snoochie.”

Dec continued “The winning team will get to pick which two celebrities from the other group will represent them in the next challenge.”

Ant added: “The team that wins the keys will have access to main camp in the Castle, where you will get a bed, a warm fire and you will eat tonight.  Whilst the losers will be banished to the Castle Clink and be on basic rations. Not the place you want to be.”

Once the gameplay was established they all turned to look at the terrifying planks.

Dec said “In front of you are two planks, which get narrower as you progress out over the quarry. You must step over the gaps in the planks and make your way to the yellow gameplay zone at the end, which is 213 feet above the lake.  Once you are both there, the game will begin.”

“Between the planks is a stack of lights. The red lights will start to flash and when the green light comes on, you must press the button with your foot. The first celebrity to hit their button will win and the loser will be dropped from their plank.”

First up was Louise vs Danny, looking at her plank Louise said “I can’t think of many things worse than this right now, it’s terrifying.”

Once Louise and Danny started to play their game the infamous ‘plank wobble’ returned as they tried to keep their balance 213 feet above the quarry lake.

Who will be the quickest to press their green button?

Snoochie decided she was going to pretend there’s a good party happening at the end of her plank when it was her turn to play against Naughty Boy.

Naughty Boy took his time moving along the plank whilst Snoochie screamed most of the way, especially as her plank began to wobble.

Hell Holes

David, Arlene, Matty and Kadeena were in the Welsh forest and came across a laminate which Arlene read out to everyone.

“Celebrities, Welcome to Wales!  You four will now go into battle, and play your part in trying to win the keys to the Castle. By winning the keys, you will have access to the Castle’s main camp, with a bed, a warm fire and a meal tonight. The losers will be banished to the Castle Clink where you will be on basic rations.”

Over walkie talkies, Ant & Dec revealed to the celebrities that the other four celebrities had just completed a challenge and the two winners from that challenge got to choose which two celebrities they’d like to join their team.

Now it was time for them to complete their own challenge and head into the forest.

The celebrities would battle it out in pairs, David and Arlene vs Kadeena and Matty.

There were two flare boxes, one red and one yellow. They had to lie on the ground and put their arms into hell holes, they then had to pass a tool to each other to try and unlock the flare in the quickest time.

Trial time - Turrets of Terror

All eight new celebrities arrived at Turrets of Terror- a huge three level structure positioned in front of the majestic Gwrych Castle.

Ant & Dec revealed that everything would come down to this, the final challenge of the day and the first Trial of the series.

They also revealed that the public had been voting for who they’d like to see take part in the first Trial of the series and now it was time to meet those final two celebrities – Richard Madeley and Frankie Bridge joined them to cheers.

The winning team so far, got to choose between Frankie or Richard to represent them whilst the other would go on to represent the other team.

Turning their attention to Turrets of Terror, Ant said “Hanging high in the air between the two turrets are two giant keys. The first celebrity to make their way to the top and grab their key will win.

Ant added “Each Turret is made up of three floors with stairs leading to the next level.  However, to get to the next level you need to go through a locked gate.

"On each floor you must retrieve the keys to unlock the three padlocks to open each gate. When you get to the roof of the turret you must use your lance to hook your key and drag it over to you. The first celebrity to retrieve their key has won.”

Dec reminded them that as this is a Trial they could be joined by some castle critters.

Who will be victorious for their team and get the keys to the castle, Richard Madeley or Frankie Bridge?
