Llandudno Rotary has been reflecting on what has been a busy and rewarding year for the club, with members describing 2025 as one filled with teamwork, fundraising and community spirit.
Although the club remains relatively small, with 16 members, its growing network of local supporters — known as Friends of Rotary — has helped it achieve a wide range of projects both in the town and further afield.
Over the past year, three new members joined the club and the Friends group grew to 62 people. Rotary members say the aim now is to continue building on that momentum, with a goal of reaching 25 members and 100 Friends in 2026.
Much of the work during the year focused on supporting charities and community groups. A series of collection days at local venues such as Tesco and Parc Llandudno helped raise money for Rotary’s Community Chest fund, supporting projects across the area.
The club also helped launch the new Friends of Llandudno Hospital group and contributed to education projects in Africa.
Grants totalling £2,000 were awarded to seven local organisations, while the club also played a role in checking town defibrillators through the Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest Programme in partnership with Save a Life Cymru. A mental health project with Ysgol Aberconwy offered practical advice to pupils, parents and carers.
Members also took on personal challenges to raise money, including the Manchester Marathon and the Bala Challenge.
Alongside its local work, the club continued to support Rotary projects worldwide. A contribution of £1,000 was made to the Rotary Foundation, including £500 for the End Polio Now campaign.
Rotary members were also present at a number of key events throughout the year, including the Remembrance Sunday service, the town fireworks display and the Christmas Parade, as well as supporting the local Parkinson’s Society group. Social activities such as themed evenings, walks and craft projects helped strengthen friendships within the club.
As the new year gets underway, the club says it is keen to welcome more people who want to get involved and help support life in Llandudno.
