The North Wales Serious Violence Prevention Partnership (SVPP) has been awarded £112,000 in funding from the Home Office to support projects with a focus on supporting children and young people at risk of violence within our communities.
The ‘Futures without Violence’ fund is now inviting applications for grants of up to £30,000, with a specific focus on preventing violence among young people.
The North Wales Serious Violence Prevention Partnership was established following the implementation of the Home Office’ new Serious Violence Duty earlier this year. Through the duty specified authorities are expected to work together to share information to allow them to target their interventions, collaborate and plan to prevent and reduce serious violence within our local communities.
The core team comprises members from North Wales Police, the Police and Crime Commissioner, Local Authorities, Public Health Wales, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), North Wales Fire and Rescue Services, Youth Justice, and the voluntary sector.
The partnership recognises that violence in children and young people can take many forms and is committed to funding projects that provide primary, secondary, and tertiary interventions to prevent them from becoming involved in violence.
To be eligible for funding, organisations must complete an expression of interest form that demonstrates how their project supports children and young people up to the age of 25. The grants cannot be used to fund a for-profit individual or organisation.
The SVPP will be accepting applications until 31st July 2023 when each application will be reviewed and appraised by a panel against set criteria to determine the allocation of funding.
Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be informed within seven working days of the panel meeting, and a brief summary of the rationale will be published on the OPCC website along with Decision Notices.
