Get ready for the ultimate team day out as St David’s Hospice welcomes back the annual Dragon Boat Festival.

The Dragon Boat Festival is an annual fundraiser embracing Chinese traditions that began more than 2000 years ago. Dragon boat racing is a fun-filled, adrenaline pumping, water sports activity which has become increasingly popular in Britain.

Teams compete in Dragon Boats, which are large canoe-like vessels fitted with ornately carved dragon’s heads and tails. Each boat has a drummer beating time to keep the paddlers in unison, and a professional helmsperson in the stern to guide the boat.

Join us on 24th June at Llyn Padarn, Llanberis as St David’s Hospice offers you the chance to compete dragon boat racing. The Dragon Boat Festival is a great day out for friends, family, colleagues, community groups and anyone who is up for some paddling fun.

Whether you are looking for a team building activity, a fun company or social group day out, this is the perfect event for you!

Teams are made up of between 13 and 20 people. Ideally, in a team of 20, there are 16 paddling and one banging the drum at any one time. The three remaining members will be substituted in on the next race. Each team will compete in a minimum of three races during the course of the day with the quickest teams going on to compete in a knockout format.

The cost per team is £250, with a minimum sponsorship pledge of £1000. So based on a team of 20, each member would be required to pay £12.50 to register and pledge to raise £50 for St David’s Hospice!

Events and Campaigns Manager at St David’s Hospice, Rhian Jacobs said,
