The Met Office has issued a nine-hour weather warning for strong winds affecting parts of North Wales, including Gwynedd, Anglesey and Conwy.

The warning comes into force at 6pm today (Monday 26 October) and remains in place until 3am on Tuesday.

Forecasters say south to south-westerly winds will strengthen during Monday evening, bringing gusts of 45 to 50 miles per hour inland, rising to 60 to 65 miles per hour along exposed coasts and over high ground.

The strong winds will be accompanied by spells of heavy rain, potentially causing disruption during the evening and into the early hours.

The Met Office says winds should ease from the west overnight, although they are expected to strengthen again across northern parts of the UK on Tuesday morning.

People are advised to take care when travelling, particularly on exposed roads and routes along the coast, and to be alert to the possibility of difficult driving conditions and disruption.
