A former pupil at a Colwyn Bay school is taking on an end of year challenge in memory of her late sister and boyfriend.
Fiona Moss, who attended Rydal Penrhos from 2002-2009, will be cycling 302km – the equivalent distance between Manchester and London – on 27 December to raise awareness for young adults aged 20-30 who died far too young, for various reasons.
The distance Fiona decided upon is also significant, with the alumnae opting for 302km due to the challenge being on the eve of her 30th birthday and to honor the memory of her sister Natalie Moss and boyfriend Andrew, who both died prematurely.
In addition to raising awareness of this key issue, Fiona is also raising money for two incredible charities: ‘The Natalie Kate Moss Trust’ in memory of her sister and Trekstock – who support young adults with cancer.
Fiona has set up a page on Instagram specifically for the challenge for those wishing to find out more and to follow her progress on the day.
A post on Fiona’s JustGiving page, read: “In my 30 years, for very different reasons, I have lost the two people closest to me.
“So this year on the eve of my 30th birthday I will be cycling 302km to raise awareness of all those young people who have been taken too soon.
“For Andrew I am supporting Trekstock. Whilst there are cancer charities for older adults and children, for anyone who has cancer in their 20s there is a huge gap.
“For Natalie I am supporting the Natalie Kate Moss Trust, set up in Natalie’s memory working with Manchester University to support the research into the prevention of brain haemorrhage.”
