Rydal Penrhos has announced the official details for the Rydal Penrhos Rugby Sevens Tournament, set to take place on Saturday 9 March 2024.

This day-long event will feature a minimum of twelve schools and clubs from across North Wales and the North West, converging on the school's historic home turf at New Field. Among the wide-ranging list of participants are the likes of Ellesmere College, Stonyhurst, Ruthin School, St David’s College, Ysgol Eirias, and Ysgol Glan Clwyd.

A spokesperson for the school explained, "After a hiatus in 2023 due to unexpected March snowfall, we are thrilled to welcome back the tournament, and hope that the vibrant atmosphere of the 2022 event will be matched and surpassed by this latest competition.

"The annual Rydal Penrhos Sevens tournament is a highlight for all our rugby players, who will be working hard over the coming weeks to maximise their chances at adding their names to our storied rugby legacy, which dates back to the era of Bleddyn Williams and Wilfred Wooller.

"To ensure the team are fully prepared, our Head of Sport, Mr Kirby, has planned a Rugby Sevens pre-season day during half term, which will feature a tailor-made programme of training, recovery sessions, and athletic development activities.

"We invite all pupils, parents, carers, alumni, and friends of the school to join us for a day filled with fantastic sportsmanship and camaraderie. The first match kicks off at 10:00, with the final games expected to begin around 15:00."
