Council consultation on funding Additional Learning Needs

November 03, 2021 - 850 views

Conwy Council has been consulting on how funding is allocated between the Council and schools for some Additional Learning Needs teams such as Educational Psychology and Autism Outreach.

The results of the consultation and a report with recommendations for future funding models will be presented to Conwy’s Councillors next week.

The recommended funding models aim to ensure that provision for learners is resilient, sustainable and equitable.

The report with the full set of proposals will be presented to a joint meeting of the Finance & Resources and the Education & Skills Scrutiny Committees on 8 November, and then to Cabinet on 9 November.

Cllr Julie Fallon, Conwy County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, said, “I am in full support of this transparent process which enables us to consult and work with schools on shaping future funding models which meet the needs of learners, schools, and the Local Authority within Conwy. We will continue to work closely with our school leaders on this important agenda.”

The report and consultation results are available on www.conwy.gov.uk and the meetings will be broadcast.

If the proposals are approved they will take from effect from 1 April 2022.
