Mental Health Week: Get on your Muddy Boots!

May 10, 2021 - 1691 views

It's Mental Health Awareness Week from 10th to 16th May and to mark the week, our friends at Conwy Mind are asking us to get out into the countryside and enjoy the beautiful scenery we have to enjoy here in Conwy and Denbighshire.

A walk in the park or a walk in the hills is a great opportunity to use nature to help our mental health and we talk about it all in this special podcast. Plus we hear some of the nature and seasonal inspired songs you've been telling us about.

Whilst we discussed Muddy Boots, we also touched on many of the services and support that Conwy Mind has to offer. I have listed these below and if you want any further information, then don't hesitate to get in touch with them.

Thanks for listening,

Simon.

Free Wellbeing in Nature taster sessions

To mark Mental Health Awareness week’s theme of “Nature” Conwy Mind are running free wellbeing taster sessions. We are offering Nature’s Five Ways to Wellbeing for this week only.

The session is 60 minutes long and will cover all of the five ways but taking particular notice of the way the natural world can be used either by you or those you support.

Here are some quotes form participants on our Five Ways courses:

“Puts something like 5 ways into perspective and that it can be simple and achievable to all. Good for others to get out of their comfort zone and to try something new and feel that they have done something , however simple/small. Thank you”

“Informative course that was applicable to my job. Skills that I can use on a daily basis both with individuals I am working with and myself personally to bolster resilience.”

The following slots are available. Please email nick.meakins@conwymind.org.uk to book your place.
Tuesday 11th 9:30 – 10:30
Thursday 13th 9:30 – 10:30

If you would be interested in a socially distance outdoor session run from near our Abergele office please let us know.

Confidential Counselling service

Alongside the other support that Mind offer…there is a confidential counselling service, run by qualified and experienced counsellors.

After a short assessment and if appropriate for your needs at that time, you will be offered 6 sessions of counselling. This is currently taking place over the phone, zoom or e-mail.

When we are able, we will offer face to face sessions also. There will also be an opportunity to attend therapeutic groups online, and again, face to face, when we are able to. The groups cover such topics as anxiety, social anxiety and Mindfulness.

There is a wait at this time for 1-2-1 counselling due to high demand, however, we have recently taken on more counsellors which will reduce the waiting times considerably. It is hoped that you will not have to wait more than 8-10 weeks to access your sessions.

Get in touch to see what Mind can offer. We can also help you access other help from different organisations and to access more urgent or longer term support if needed.

‘Active Monitoring’

‘Active Monitoring’ is a six week guided self-help service, focussed on setting goals and equipping individuals with the necessary tools and coping strategies to manage symptoms or issues that are currently impacting their wellbeing. ‘Active Monitoring’ aims to help prevent people’s mental health problems from escalating into larger more complex issues.

We can support you around a number of issues including support with anxiety, depression, stress, anger management, loneliness, grief and loss and self-esteem. If you have been struggling recently, why not give us a ring on 01492 879907 or pop us an email at info@conwymind.org.uk to find out about support available.
