Coleg Llandrillo held its eleventh Teacher Training conference and exhibition at the college's Rhos-on-Sea campus recently.
The college's first and second year trainee teachers presented the research they have undertaken into innovative practice in teaching and learning within each of their own subject areas.
Most of the students on the Teacher Training programme have to juggle their studies with full-time jobs.
The exhibition was also open to external guests, giving the opportunity for a wider audience to explore the work of trainee teachers and to find out how new approaches to teaching and learning are developing. The trainee teachers represented a wide range of organisations from across North Wales.
Lesley Surguy-Price, programme leader - Education and Training at Coleg Llandrillo, congratulated the students on their exceptional work and stressed the importance of maintaining and developing their skills as teachers in their future career paths. Many of the trainee teachers who were not in employment have now secured positions.
Lesley said: "Coleg Llandrillo's trainee teachers have responded brilliantly to the challenges of providing education in an evolving, interconnected world, for students who are increasingly entering college with new capabilities and requirements.
"The trainees have developed innovative teaching approaches that make education more effective and appealing for today's students, in order to develop skills for learning, living and working".
"During the final year of the course, trainee teachers designed and conducted a piece of action research within their own area of teaching: a concern was identified and a strategic action implemented.
"The research aims to help them develop an informed and innovative approach, and thus, develop their practice so that they will be able to prepare their students for the demands of a challenging and ever-changing world".
Sioned Roberts now teaches at the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts and also owns an entertainment business.
She said: "I've thoroughly enjoyed the course and it's confirmed I want to go into teaching. The support and feedback has motivated me to complete the course. The conference was a really nice way to bring the year to a close".
