A £5.5m upgrade at Spire Healthcare in Abergele has been praised by Clwyd West MS Darren Millar following his visit to the new clinic they have created last week.

Last summer, building work commenced to upgrade the existing Spire Abergele Consulting Rooms, which are based at North Wales Business Park, into a new Spire Healthcare Abergele Clinic offering diagnostic services, as well as treatments for orthopaedic, ophthalmic, dermatological, and gynaecological conditions.

The £5.5m investment has created 10 new jobs and will provide people across North West Wales with faster access to one of Spire’s GPs and to a diagnosis, and to surgery that does not require an overnight stay.

Ahead of the official opening of the new facility, Mr. Millar them a visit.

Commenting afterwards, he said: “Spire Heath Care are a real asset to Abergele and attract people to the town from all over.

“They have been delivering high quality health care in Abergele over a number of years now and I am thrilled to see them expand further and provide more services. I also welcome the additional jobs they have created.

“During my visit I was told that up to 4,000 operations will be carried out at the new clinic every year.

“The new Spire Abergele Clinic is part of a network of 10 new Spire clinics being developed across Britain. By investing in new clinic facilities like this at Abergele, Spire Healthcare is broadening its community healthcare services to complement its 39 hospital sites across Wales, Scotland and England.

“Spire give people choice in terms of their healthcare and I am very pleased that we have one of their prestigious clinics located on the North Wales Business Park in my constituency.

“I would like to thank the team for the work that they do and for inviting me to view the new clinic. It has been a major investment to the facility and is very impressive. I wish them the best of luck with the new clinic and their ongoing work.”
