Understanding rough sleeping in Conwy

Conwy County Borough Council is taking part in a national Rough Sleepers Count and is asking the public to help.

To get a clearer idea of how many people are sleeping rough in Wales, the Welsh Government is organising a count to take place over one night in November.

Conwy Council’s Housing Strategy team is taking part in this count and is asking local residents for information to help focus the search on the night.

The purpose of the count is to get a better understanding of the scale of the issue and whether it’s changing over time, so that policies and services can be better planned.

Cllr Liz Roberts, Conwy’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for housing, said: “If you know where there are people sleeping rough please let us know, you could make a real difference. We need to make sure the scale of the issue in Conwy is accurately reflected in the figures we send to Welsh Government.”

Anyone found sleeping rough on the night of the count will be offered assistance.
