A warning has gone out to local residents about keeping keys secure after thieves stole a high performance vehicle earlier today in Penrhyn Bay.

Police have warned the public to be more vigilant by ensuring their homes are kept locked and secure at all times, following an increase in car key burglaries.

The advice comes after a vehicle was stolen from Llandudno Road in Penrhyn Bay in the early hours. Other homes in the area were also targeted by criminals intending to steal cars by searching the houses for vehicle keys.

Detective Constable KellyTaylor-Jones said: “These incidents have taken place in quick succession during the early hours of Thursday morning. We believe that the offenders have travelled from outside of the area with the sole intention of stealing vehicles.”

“They have managed to gain access to the people’s homes and searched for car keys in order to take the vehicles. At this time I would like to reinforce the message that people need to ensure that all doors and windows to their property are secure and that car keys are kept out of sight.”

DC Taylor-Jones added: “We want to encourage owners of desirable high-value performance vehicles to be particularly aware of security. We would also encourage any members of the public, especially those with a dash cam facility on their vehicle, who have been travelling along Llandudno Road in Penrhyn Bay between the hours of 4am and 5am on Thursday 14th March to contact us with any information relating to any suspicious circumstances that maybe relevant.”
