Conwy Council have announced that they have priortised Dolwen Road for road surface improvements later this week.

Engineers will be doing repair work to the road, to prepare for road surface dressing from 8am Wednesday 10th July and will re-open Saturday 13th July at 5pm.

The road will be closed from the beginning of the 60mph speed limit outside Old Colwyn to the junction with the B5381 to Bryn y Maen. There will be a signed diversion route in place.

The new road surface dressing work will take place from 16th August. The road will not be closed for this work.

Road dressing is the process of laying a sticky tar-like substance on a road surface, then spreading stone chippings on top.

After this the surface is rolled to push the stones in, but some loose stones will stay on the top. Vehicles driving over the new road surface will push these in to finish the surface.  The road is then swept after several days to clear up any loose stones.
