Rhos Point redevelopment planned

Conwy County Borough Council is inviting Expressions of Interest for the redevelopment of Rhos Point in Rhos-on-Sea.

This month, through an open tender process, the Council will invite proposals from interested parties wanting to develop a commercial facility at this maritime setting.

The development must be non-residential and must support year-round employment opportunities.

The prominence of the site, the listed Toll House, and proximity to the Rhos on Sea conservation area will require a high degree of sensitivity in the design and profile of any buildings.  Applicants will also need to consider the results of the community consultation in 2012.

Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Cllr Louise Emery, said, “This is a really exciting development opportunity.  It’s an area with a unique sense of place, enjoyed by residents and visitors alike, and we’re looking forward to see what proposals come forward.”

The development opportunity will be advertised on Sell2Wales later this week.
