October 16, 2023 - 602 views

The High Sheriff Awards nomination process for 2024 is now underway. Why not nominate someone special who does great things here in North Wales?

The awards, established in 2013, recognise individuals and community groups with charitable aims that have made outstanding contributions in their communities. Over the years countless volunteers and groups have been recognised for their extraordinary efforts.

There are three awards given for each of the counties that form the preserved County of Clwyd: Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham.

- Two awards for outstanding contribution by an individual
- One award for outstanding contribution by a voluntary or community group with charitable aims

The High Sheriff, Kate Hill-Trevor said, "Volunteers are active at the heart of every UK community. These awards are a chance to recognise, celebrate and applaud the actions and hard work of the outstanding volunteers in the communities of Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham."

The AVOW’s Chief Officer, Dawn Roberts-McCabe added, "The High Sheriff’s Awards provides an opportunity to submit nominations so that the extraordinary individuals and charitable groups can be recognised for the incredible work they do on behalf of their communities."

Nomination forms and guidance notes are attached and can also be downloaded from the Community and Voluntary Support Conwy (CVSC) website.

The closing date for the submission of signed nominations is noon on Monday 6th November 2023.

All nominations regardless of county of origin should be sent to Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham (AVOW) at info@avow.org

The winners will be presented with their awards at a special recognition ceremony to be held in early March 2024.
