Llandudno launches series of initiatives to help drive tourism

Llandudno Hospitality Association is building on its established role as the voice of the hospitality industry in the town with a number of exciting projects to help boost tourism and footfall across Llandudno as the busy summer season approaches.

Key among these projects is a Llandudno Hospitality Association Eateries and Attractions Map, which has been created to showcase the town of Llandudno. It was commissioned to fill a gap in the market as it was realised there was not a one-stop-shop leaflet featuring places where tourists could find refreshments or different activities.

The map follows a recently produced free visitor map for Craig-y-Don, which has been produced to showcase businesses in the up-and-coming village.

The Llandudno map has been researched by Hospitality Association members and designed by local business Inscribe Print and Design. All restaurants, bars, cafes and attractions in the town are listed automatically on the map, with all Llandudno Hospitality Association members additionally having a small advert promoting their business.

The map is aimed at visitors, but judging by the popularity of the similar Craig-y-Don map, the association believes local residents will find it equally as useful. The initial print run is 10,000 copies and it will be distributed shortly across the town and given to all accommodation providers to be placed in rooms or information packs.

The promotion of Craig-y-Don, which began with the launch of the local business map, has  led to the creation of the 'LoveCYD' group, which is moving forward with a ‘Springfest’ promotion. This will involve the group running a series of events from Easter Saturday, 19 April, to 10 May, a period which takes in Easter, the early Spring Bank Holiday and VE Day.

The opening Saturday will feature an Easter Trail, outside activities under the shop verandas, as well as promotions that will be throughout the festival. The area will also be decorated with bunting and planters, all supported through the contribution of local businesses. A leaflet will be produced about Springfest and will be distributed around Craig-y-Don to keep people up to date with plans.

Llandudno Hospitality Association are also pleased to announce that they have donated £900 raised at their St David’s Day Ball to local young people’s action group FOMS Kidz.

This group has many young members drawn from across Llandudno and seeks to create opportunities for them through volunteering and other community-focused activity. It is the youth arm of the Friends of Mostyn Street (FOMS), which was set-up in April 2023  with the goal of maintaining the town centre of Llandudno through activities such as litter picking, painting, gardening, general care and community events.

The money donated by the Hospitality Association will go towards supporting FOMS Kidz community hub, which is located in West Shore. The hub acts as a base for FoMS Kidz’ work in the community and also offers a space where the young people can meet under supervision and enjoy spending time with friends.

As a further demonstration of the co-operation behind all these projects, FOMS and FOMS Kidz are also involved in a community clean-up as part of the Craig-y-Don Springfest event. Local businesses are being rallied to take part and refreshments will be provided at Coffee Vino and by Give a Little, with the aim of helping litter pick and improve some of the key areas in the village.

Simon Bayliss Chair of Llandudno Hospitality Association commented: “This is a really exciting opportunity for hospitality in Llandudno in an industry which has seen a tough few years across the UK. We are determined to work together as an association to drive forward the hospitality industry in Llandudno for the benefit of visitors, residents and the economy of the town.

“We are looking forward to the launch of our map and to showcasing the wealth of hospitality businesses we have in the town that cater to all tastes and budgets. As an Association and as businesses, we also recognise the importance of giving back to our town and we’re therefore pleased to be able to support FOMS Kidz and the excellent work they are doing to encourage young people to feel included and get involved in the life of Llandudno.

“This is an exciting time to be a member of Llandudno Hospitality Association and I would encourage any businesses to get in touch and get involved, whether as a full member or associate member. Let’s stand together and stand tall for hospitality in Llandudno.”
