The Seagulls have reached a short term agreement with Runcorn Linnets to add experienced defender James Short to their squad.

The 26-year-old joined Runcorn from Witton Albion last summer, having previously had five years at Marine where he made 172 appearances.

He has also had spells at Morecambe, Burscough, Warrington Town and Skelmersdale United.

He played for Marine against Colwyn Bay in two significant games in the 2015/16 season when Marine won 3-0 at Llanelian Road in a game that saw Kevin Lynch sacked as Bay manager, and a month later he helped Marine to a 4-1 victory over the Bay in the semi-final of the NPL League Cup.

Bay boss Craig Hogg commented: "Its good news for us. James is an excellent defender who is certain to add a great deal to the strong squad we have and I look forward to welcoming him to the club.

"We hope to be in a strong position to offer James and the rest of our lads the opportunity to play football soon.

"We are planning for our 15-game league campaign, until we are formally told otherwise, and currently the hope is that will be able to start at some point in February."
