Exciting times ahead with the expansion of Bayside

After months of planning the final touches to Bayside's new Colwyn Bay town centre studios are coming to an end.

Last week Bayside Radio took the unusual step of reducing its output down to a week of pre-recorded programmes and reduced broadcast hours so the final engineering work could be completed. This now means that very soon the station will be able to expand its programming and introduce new shows during weekends and evenings. The station is now back on its normal programming schedule.

Simon Wynne who presents on the station and also looks after the running of operations said that the small scale studio had to be taken out of service to allow new equipment and technology to be fitted.

"Because of our size there was no way that we could have produced our existing shows and coped with so many technical changes. Although our two studios are in seperate locations, the whole station has to be networked with many pieces of new equipment introduced to make it all function together."

Pete Fisher who has advised the station on technical aspects since it began said that the studios and equipment will allow the station to plan for the future.

"Online listeners will hear the benefit of our new equipment from this week with the installation of a very powerful, professional studio sound processor which is in use at many of the biggest radio stations around the world. We installed it primarily for our prospective venture into the world of digital radio and part time FM transmission which we expect to take part in during the summer."

"However online listeners will benefit too from clearer, more detailed sound in our music and presenters will sound more impactful on-air. We made the switch over the weekend and we're very impressed at the results."

To mark the opening of the new studios on Rhiw Road in Colwyn Bay, Bayside has forged a partnership with CVSC to help promote the benefits of volunteering in the area and at Bayside Radio. The station is looking for keen individuals who would like the experience of helping run the station and taking part in its exciting new chapter.

The new studios run by CCRM CIC have been made possible by the kind generosity of the Bay of Colwyn Town Council and will be the company's biggest expansion since it launched Bayside in May last year initially from shared facilities.
