With the UK still well and truly in the Europe for the time being, residents in Conwy are been reminded that they need need to be on the Electoral Register to make their voices heard.

With the European Parliament Election Day set for Thursday 23rd May, everyone in the community are being urged to get registered not solely to vote in these elections but for any future political vote that comes our way.

An entry on the Electoral Register is also an important way of proving your identity and many companies refer to this when making decisions about giving loans, bank accounts and credit cards.

Residents have until 23:59hrs on Tuesday, 7th May to register to vote if they are not already on the Electoral Register.

The closing date to apply for a postal vote is Wednesday, 8 May (17:00hrs) and for proxy votes Wednesday, 15 May (17:00hrs).

Iwan Davies, Local Returning Officer said: “It is important that people have the opportunity to take part in this election and do not miss out because they are not on the electoral register. Our experienced Electoral Services Team is available to provide advice and information to voters.”

Registering to vote only takes a few minutes, you just need your National Insurance number.

Register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or telephone Conwy’s Electoral Services Team on 01492 575570.
