Conwy County Borough Council has reaffirmed its commitment to support the Armed Forces community by re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

The aim of the Community Covenant is to encourage local communities to support the Armed Forces community in their area; promote understanding and awareness among the public of issues affecting service community and recognise and remember the sacrifices made.

The Community Covenant was signed at an event at Venue Cymru, Llandudno yesterday.

Cllr Liz Roberts is Conwy’s Armed Forces Champion, leading within the Council on issues affecting the Armed Forces community.

She said, “Conwy first signed-up to the covenant in 2013, and I’m delighted that we’re reaffirming our pledge to support the Armed Forces community.”

“It’s an honour and a privilege to have the opportunity to work with such dedicated people and I’ll continue do my best to represent the veterans, servicemen and women, and their families in our communities.”

Conwy County Borough Council first signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2013, and was awarded the Gold Level Defence Employer Recognition Scheme in 2019 and is currently working towards renewing the Award.
