Guests from across the world flocked to Cardiff last week to take part in the St David's Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast Events at the Senedd hosted by Clwyd West MS Darren Millar.

Mr. Millar has been Chair of the Welsh Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast Organising Committee since it was established in 2018.

This year guests from over 25 nations attended the Breakfast, which was held in the Welsh Parliament’s historic Pierhead building.

The night before an International Reception also took place in the Senedd.

First Minister Mark Drakeford MS addressed the International Reception, while the Llywydd, Elin Jones MS, and the Welsh Government Chief Whip and Minister for Social Justice, Jane Hutt MS, addressed the Prayer Breakfast.

The guest of honour was Seán Ó Fearghaíl TD, the Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann (Speaker of the Irish Dáil), and this year's keynote speaker was former Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams.

Commenting after the events, Mr. Millar said:

“Once again, the International Reception and the Prayer Breakfast were a tremendous blessing and it was wonderful to welcome representatives from so many nations to the Senedd.

“This events featured music from The Salvation Army, which is celebrating 150 years in Wales, and singers and musicians from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

“The events also incorporated an exhibition of The Cross of Wales, which led the procession at The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and includes a relic of the True Cross, and the mysterious Nanteos Cup, believed by some to be the Holy Grail.

“These were inspiring and uplifting events with wonderful music and powerful messages from our speakers. I thank everyone who took part, particularly those who travelled from afar, and also my wonderful team who ensured that both the reception and the breakfast went off without a hitch.”
