Officers and staff have celebrated at an awards evening in recognition of colleagues who have been involved in exceptional work.

A number of achievements were commended by new Chief Constable Carl Foukes during the evening. This included one of the highest profile events from last summer's busy calendar in Conwy county.

The Armed Forces Day was a high profile event of national importance to celebrate the work and success of our Armed Forces. North Wales was proud to host the 2018 event in Llandudno.

This was the largest policing operation North Wales Police has ever been involved in with 556 officers and staff on duty over the weekend.

The work commitment given to the planning of this event alone was above and beyond normal responsibilities which took place over a prolonged period of time. This included multi-agency planning meetings with key partner agencies in attendance chaired by North Wales Police.

This was also an unprecedented policing operation for North Wales Police with three high profile people in attendance (HRH Princess Anne, the Prime Minister and Defence Secretary) who had to be escorted safely to and from the event in a strict timeline.

The 1000 military personnel also had to be escorted to the venue in time for the start of the parade which was a demanding task.

Attendance figures on the Saturday were in excess of 100,000 people.

Officers and staff not only worked tirelessly in critical roles on the days of the event itself but also throughout the planning phase preceding the event and all played crucial roles in ensuring the overall success of the event.
