Sam Bixby, a Year 11 pupil at the school, has been named in the RGC U16 starting line-up for their Regional Age Grade Championship clash against Dragons North at Stadiwm Zip World on Sunday.

The 15-year-old boarding pupil takes his place in the Gogs’ front row once again, having also started for the young side alongside fellow pupil Fin Hare in their defeat at Blues South last weekend.

This is the first time RGC have competed on home soil after four testing trips to South Wales during the first block of the competition.

Sam has developed a considerable amount thanks to his efforts with Rydal Penrhos’ dedicated coaching staff and his commitment during his efforts with Bangor Rugby Club’s youth set-up.

He has also been making a name for himself on the regional cricket scene this summer, making a number of appearances for Menai Bridge Seconds during their successful campaign.

“This is our final game of the first block and whilst we have the utmost respect for the Dragons North team we are very much hoping that it will end with a win.”

Head coach Gav Hodgkinson, said: “Whilst we were all obviously disappointed by the score last Sunday we did not feel that it reflected our performance from which we were able to draw a number of positives and that positivity has been reflected by the attitude shown in training by the players this week.
