A campaign to build a statue in Colwyn Bay of Terry Jones, the Monty Python legend, is close to reaching its fundraising goal of £120,00.
Terry who was born in Colwyn Bay supported the local community as proud patron of Theatre Colwyn.
The campaign called 'A Python on the Prom' has already raised £95,000 in just 4 weeks, leaving just £25,000 to go.
The fundraiser is run in partnership with Terry’s children, Sally & Bill Jones, and the Conwy Arts Trust, a Conwy based charity supporting the Arts in North Wales. The campaign also has the support of the Mayor of Colwyn Bay, Bayside Radio and Conwy County Borough Council.
Llandudno based sculptor Nick Elphick is now working on the design for the statue, which will be announced soon.
