A busy sunny first day at the Extravaganza

One of North Wales premier tourist events got off to a shaky start after high winds, rain and sleet overnight caused damage to some of the chalets that exhibitors had booked.

Despite a second weekend of wind on the North Wales coast, the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza opened up for the first day with a backdrop of sunshine and large crowds.

Behind the scenes organisers were forced to slightly delay the start of the event set up but thanks to the ingenuity of the marshals and support staff, time was very quickly made up.

The Victorian Extravaganza and Llandudno Transport Festival has been a popular event for locals and visitors alike on the North Wales coast and is now in its 34th year.

Once again many thousands of visitors will be expected across the May Bank Holiday weekend on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The number of visitors heading into the town will undoubtedly be helped by good weather The forecast is expected to be sunny for the three days although a little colder than than average for this time of year.

The event has been established for 34 years and is Wales' largest free to attend family event. It takes over the main streets of Llandudno for the full three days, bringing Vintage attractions, Entertainment and Fun fair.
