Rhos-on-Sea targeted as thefts of used cooking oil increase

July 08, 2022 - 906 views

The theft of used cooking oil is on the rise warns North Wales Police today following reports that thieves stole a significant quantity from a restaurant in Rhos-on-Sea earlier this week.

A spokesperson said: "Safe disposal and re-cycling of used oil is a legitimate business;  it is good for the environment and helps with production of bio-fuels.

"However, thieves have realised that there is value in those drums of used oil usually stored at the rear of cafes, restaurants etc.

"We are asking that business owners who have cooking oil awaiting collection, store it securely and out of view.  This will help to defeat the thieves and keep legitimate waste carriers in business."

If you have any information relating to the theft on used cooking oil, please call 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
