Information will be on display to the public next week about proposed changes to the road layout at Rhos-on-Sea’s West Promenade.
Conwy County Borough Council has already started work on the £20 million coastal defence project, which includes importing 1 million tonnes of sand and building a new rock groyne to protect Rhos-on-Sea from future flooding.
As part of the project, the Council has designed improvements to the promenade, including play areas, a shared pedestrian and cycle route, a seaside pedestrian-only walkway, and new kiosks, shelters and picnic areas.
These community benefits rely on having the space of a wider promenade, which means the Council’s proposals include making a section of West Promenade one-way.
Residents will be able to see more details of the promenade improvements and information on the proposed new road layout. The project team will be on hand to answer questions and residents will be asked for their comments.
“Rhos-on-Sea deserves to have modern facilities designed for all the community,” said Cllr Goronwy Edwards, Cabinet Member for Environment, Roads and Facilities - Infrastructure.
“There is a balance to be found here. If we are going to provide the space for these promenade improvements, there will need to be changes to the road layout. I’d encourage residents to come along to find out more and share their views at these sessions or online.”
The drop in exhibition is at the site office at West Promenade, Rhos-on-Sea:
