Golygfa Gwydyr is a community organisation, based in Llanrwst, North Wales, supporting rural communities using the natural resources around us. We have a community hub in Llanrwst and a 15 hectare site called Caerdroia, nearby in Gwydir Forest. We provide a range of regular activities and everyone is welcome. Our vision is to foster connection and wellbeing within our community by creating experiences based on participation in nature and the arts. Through events at our community hub and our forest site, we cultivate spaces where people can engage with their own wellbeing, participate with others, and connect with the environment. 'Very funny' naked statue of Monty Python's Terry Jones unveiled (fun stuff/story) (UK) 25/Apr/2026

Here's a fun story of the day. A statue commemorating actor and writer Terry Jones has been unveiled in his birthplace. Jones, best known for his part in the British comedy troupe Monty Python, died in 2020 aged 77 from a rare form of dementia. His family backed a fundraising campaign to have him immortalised in bronze in Colwyn Bay, Conwy, as the nude organist, a recurring character played by Jones in Monty Python's Flying Circus. Jones' fellow Python, Sir Michael Palin, attended the unveiling and said the late star would find the tribute "very funny indeed", adding Jones was a "brilliant man in so many ways". Fellow Python Terry Gilliam also attended the unveiling of the statue on Saturday, which overlooked Colwyn Bay beach in north Wales. "Mike and I were here last year and we talked to the designer and we captured the real Terry," said Gilliam. "We've seen the work in progress and it's fantastic," he added. "We can all fondle his bum, even in death. Children are going to do it and it will be the shiny bit. Trefriw (Welsh pronunciation: [trɛˈvrɪu]) is a village and community in Conwy County Borough, Wales. It lies on the river Crafnant a few miles south of the site of the Roman fort of Canovium, sited at Caerhun. At the last three censuses, the population of the community has been recorded as 842 in 1999, 915 in 2001, and 783 in 2011 (from a total of 368 households).. Trefriw lies on the edge of Snowdonia, on the B5106 road to the north-west of Llanrwst, and about 4½ miles north of Betws-y-Coed by road. It is located on the western slopes of the glaciated Conwy valley, below the ridge of Cefn Cyfarwydd, the village having been largely built in a semicircle at the point where the river Crafnant flows from its hanging valley to join the river Conwy. The river Crafnant still provides power for the woollen mill, and in the past provided power for a number of other industries based along its banks, such as a forge which provided quarry tools. The community includes the hamlet of Llanrhychwyn. Most of the village lies within the Snowdonia National Park, the boundary running down the main street of the village.
