The glittering line-up of high-performance speedsters will driving into the Welsh resort to whet appetites ahead of the arrival of the World Rally Championship stars and cars contesting this year’s Wales Rally GB from 3-6 October.

The world’s best drivers and the sport’s fastest-ever cars will be racing up and down Colwyn’s seaside promenade just after sunset – burning rubber around a special two mile floodlit course including dramatic chicanes, donuts and a hairpin.

Fuelling anticipation for the fireworks to follow, the impressive collection of exotic speed-machines – organised by Supercar Driver, the UK’s leading supercar owners club – will be on show in the town centre on Station Road from 11:00 in the morning.

Then, later in the afternoon they will all be unleashed for an eye-catching parade on the competitive seafront speed test course allowing all those on the Promenade not only to marvel at them in motion but also to savour the sounds of their powerful engines in full flow.

Adding to the growing excitement on the water’s edge, the dazzling supercar showcase with be followed by stunt displays in the skies above the bay courtesy of the world famous Red Bull Matador Aerobatic Team and, thereafter, by demonstrations runs by 25 iconic rally cars from yesteryear.

These include a number of legendary MG Metro 6R4s as well as other much loved Group B icons from Nissan, Renault and past masters Audi.

“Anyone with even the slightest interest in cars is in for a real treat,” predicted Alun Pritchard, Wales Rally GB’s Events Partnership Manager who lives locally in Old Colwyn.

“The supercar display alone will probably be the most expensive car park ever seen in Wales!” he joked.

“Add that to some great classic rally cars plus the presence of the World Rally Championship and you can see why this is just going to be an amazing Saturday afternoon and evening.

:What’s more, there’ll be something for everyone with lots of family entertainment and attractions both in the town centre and on the promenade all creating a wonderful festival atmosphere in the area.”

With adult admission priced at just £15 when tickets are purchased in advance and accompanied children aged 15 and under admitted free – it is no surprise that tickets are selling fast. Indeed, VIP hospitality in the impressive new Porth Eirias building has already completely sold-out.

Gates on the seafront will open at 2:00pm with public access points either from adjacent to the railway station in the town centre or from the Rhos-on-Sea end of the Promenade.

A wide selection of tickets for the remaining 21 special stages that make up the full unmissable four-day 2019 Wales Rally GB itinerary are also on sale. Full details can be found on the official www.walesrallygb.com website.
