St David’s Hospice are seeking daredevils to take to the skies and sign up for their 2021 Wing Walk challenge.

Wing walking has its roots in the early days of aviation, when reckless daredevils wowed the crowds with stunning displays of boldness and bravery. Now you too can join the ranks of the select few who have ‘travelled’ in style and pushed their courage to new limits!

The challenge, which takes place on 20th June is at the Breighton Airfield near Selby, Yorkshire where you will fly on the top wing of a biplane.

Conwy Area Fundraiser, James Wilde said: “A wing walking experience is one of life’s greatest aerial adventures. With St David’s Hospice, you can walk the wing at Yorkshire’s specially certified venue. Amaze your friends and family by putting on your very own in-flight show on the wing, under the guidance of professional air-display teams.”

To be eligible to take part in the St David’s Hospice Wing Walk, you must pay a £100 deposit and then raise a minimum of £900 sponsorship – which will include the total cost for the training, display and a donation to the Hospice.

Participants must be under 77kg (12stone 2lb), be able to climb up the aircraft to the top wing where the rig is fixed (about 10 feet) and should be at least 18 years old. If older than 65 you will require a Doctor’s signature confirming your fitness to participate in this experience.
