Exciting news for women across North Wales: a women’s health hub is now open in every health board area, bringing services like menopause support, contraception, and menstrual health closer to home.
This move is part of the Welsh Government’s Women’s Health Plan, responding to feedback from thousands of women about improving healthcare access.
In North Wales, initial hubs have opened at Llandudno Hospital and other locations, while some areas are offering online services to make support even easier to access.
First Minister Eluned Morgan said this is a “landmark achievement” for the Senedd, highlighting that the hubs make specialist care more accessible and tailored to local needs. Sarah Murphy, Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, added that the hubs will continue to evolve, ensuring women get the right care in the right place.
Since the plan launched in December 2024, training for GPs and healthcare staff has expanded, including support for conditions like endometriosis, and more services are now offered within local communities. For example, in some areas, uro-gynaecology physiotherapy can now be accessed through primary care rather than hospitals.
A new national website launched on 16 March 2026 makes it easy to find reliable guidance on women’s health and locate your nearest hub. With £300,000 allocated to each health board this year, these hubs aim to close the gender health gap and provide women with care that fits around their lives.
In North Wales, whether you visit Llandudno Hospital or use online services, support is now closer than ever, marking a major step forward for women’s healthcare in the region.
