Rhos Tree of Lights raises more than £27,000 for hospice

The Rhos on Sea Rotary Club’s annual Tree of Lights appeal has raised more than £27,000 for St David’s Hospice, with over £10,000 of that total coming from the Rhos on Sea area alone.

The Tree of Lights was switched on in November and is one of four ceremonies held across North Wales this year, alongside events in Bangor, Llangefni and Betws-y-Coed. Each ceremony reflected strong local support for the hospice and its work caring for patients and families across the region.

The Tree of Lights offers families and friends a chance to remember loved ones while supporting the hospice. It has been a valued community tradition for 27 years, having first been established by members of Rhos on Sea Rotary. Since it began, the initiative has raised more than £470,000 for St David’s Hospice.

Rotary President John Tristram said the club was delighted with the continued success of the appeal.

“The Tree of Lights provides a special focus for families to remember their loved ones while supporting the vital work of St David’s Hospice,” he said.

Rhos on Sea Rotary Club thanked all those who helped make the event possible, including Bay of Colwyn Town Council, Conwy County Borough Council, Beulah Brass, Cor Meibion Colwyn, Ysgol Llandrillo yn Rhos, actress Emily Jones for playing Dewi the goat, Shaun of Sets Electrical of Denbigh, Chris Price-White of Absolute Sounds, St John Ambulance, and Rotarians Chip Wood and Ken Owen, who organised the event.
