A 45-year-old man is being investigated after testing positive for cannabis during a traffic stop in Menai Bridge.

North Wales Police says one of its officers stopped the vehicle shortly before 11pm on Monday after spotting a defective rear light.

The local man gave a positive roadside breath test and also tested positive for cannabis.

He was arrested and taken into custody, but a subsequent evidential breath test was just below the legal drink-drive limit, meaning no further action was taken in relation to alcohol.

The man was released under investigation while further tests are carried out in relation to the positive drugs test.

Police are reminding motorists that driving after drinking alcohol or taking drugs can have serious consequences.

The force says patrols will continue across North Wales to target impaired drivers.
