Officers are currently investigating a hate related incident that took place at a football match between Llangefni Town Football Club and Trearddur Bay Football Club on Friday.
It is reported that a racial slur was shouted towards one of the players by a spectator at the game.
A young person was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident and has since been bailed with conditions whilst we finalise our enquiries.
District Inspector Wayne Francis said: “We will not tolerate racism in any form anywhere in our communities- in or out of sport.
“Officers took swift action following the report of the incident to identify those involved. I would thank both football clubs for their ongoing assistance.
"We are supportive of initiatives such as the Welsh Football Association's ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ scheme and will continue to work closely with partners and community members to ensure incidents of this nature are taken seriously and dealt with robustly.”
