Health Board to receive £12m to upgrade patient record system

Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board has been awarded £12m by the Welsh Government to upgrade their patient record systems.

The move towards fully digitised systems will improve patient administration, speed up referrals, and reduce errors.

The CEO of the Health Board, Carol Shillabeer, expressed gratitude for the funding, emphasizing the importance of modern digitised systems in providing the best care possible for patients.

She said: “This record and patient management system will be a significant step forward in how we store and retrieve patient information. It will also positively benefit the patients we serve, by enabling staff within the All Ages Mental Health and Learning Disability service to provide the best care possible in a timely manner.

“I’m very grateful to the Welsh Government for their support and their funding for this project, which is one of many digital projects in development and planned for our future across North Wales.

“I’m also pleased that we will be working in close collaboration with Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board in taking this forward.”

The five-year funding package is partly conditional on meeting project targets. Project work to procure suitable systems will lead to selection of a provider, in principle, by the end of this financial year.
