Grŵp Llandrillo Menai has been ranked the highest in Wales for overall student satisfaction for the third consecutive year, according to the latest National Student Survey.

The education group, which has higher education students studying across campuses in Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey, recorded an overall satisfaction score of 93% in the 2026 survey.

That puts the Grŵp one percentage point above the national benchmark and represents a five-point increase compared with the previous year.

The National Student Survey gathers feedback from students about their experiences of higher education, including the quality of teaching, academic support and the organisation of their courses.

The survey is completed by students at universities across the UK, as well as a number of further education colleges. Its results are used by prospective students when considering where to study, while also providing institutions with feedback that can be used to improve the student experience.

For Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, the latest results highlight a number of areas where students appear particularly positive about their experience.

Teaching was one of the strongest areas. In the section covering teaching on students' courses, the Grŵp scored above the UK average across all questions.

Some 98% of students who responded said their teaching staff made their subjects engaging – seven percentage points above the UK average.

Academic support also received a particularly strong response, with 100% of participating students saying they valued the academic support available to them.

The survey also suggests students feel they have a strong voice within the organisation. Some 93% said their opinions were valued, putting the Grŵp eight percentage points above the UK average in this area.

Course organisation was another area where the results were positive, with responses to the question about how organised students considered their course being nine percentage points higher than the UK average.

Grŵp Llandrillo Menai Chief Executive Aled Jones-Griffith said the results were recognition of the work being carried out by staff across its higher education provision.

“We’re proud to have been ranked top once more in Wales for Overall Satisfaction in the National Student Survey, and we’re grateful to our learners for sharing their experiences and putting us top of the list,” he said.

“As we continue to expand and broaden our higher education offer, it’s extremely encouraging that learners value our high-quality university-level courses and academic support, which are amongst the best in Wales.”

He added that the survey provided an important insight into how students view their time at the Grŵp.

“The results really do give us an important insight into how our students feel about their higher education experience, and I’m delighted that Grŵp Llandrillo Menai learners are expressing such positive views about the provision we offer across our campuses.”

He said the results were also a reflection of the work carried out by staff.

“The results are testament to the hard work and investment in our students by our talented, dedicated and industry-experienced staff, which are our greatest asset at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai.”

The results come as the Grŵp continues to expand its higher education offer, with university-level courses available across more than 30 subject areas.

Most of the higher education provision is delivered at the specialist university centre at the Rhos-on-Sea campus, with courses also available at campuses in Bangor, Dolgellau, Llangefni and Rhyl.

The strong satisfaction figures provide an encouraging picture for the organisation, although, as with any student survey, the results represent the views of those who responded rather than every student studying at the Grŵp.

The National Student Survey is also designed to measure students' experiences and opinions rather than directly assess academic outcomes or employment prospects, so the figures are one measure of the overall student experience rather than a complete assessment of an institution.

For prospective students, however, the results offer another indication of how existing learners view their courses and the support they receive.

Applications are still being accepted for degree programmes starting in September, with further information available through Grŵp Llandrillo Menai's higher education course listings and its student advice team.
