North Wales Police have released details of an early morning persuit which quickly came to an end when the driver drove into flood water and their vehicle ground to a standstill.

During the early hours in Colwyn Bay, officers from the West Conwy division asked the driver of a black Audi A1 to stop, but they failed to do.

Later in the morning, other officers followed the vehicle when it failed to stop for a second time.

The pursuit abruply ended when the car drove into flood water and stalled, leading the driver to flee.

Police later found and arrested the driver on multiple charges including dangerous driving, failure to stop, driving without insurance, and suspicion of drink driving.

The individual remains in custody.
