Extensive searches are continuing for the mother of a baby whose body was discovered on the Bangor coastline.

Police were called shortly before 5pm on Sunday, September 27th, after a member of the public reported finding the baby’s body near the Siliwen Road area.

Officers are working with partner agencies to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

Superintendent Llinos Davies said the immediate concern remains the health and wellbeing of the mother.

She is urging her to come forward and seek support, saying she does not have to face the situation alone.

Police are also appealing to anyone who knows a woman or girl who may have been pregnant, or whose behaviour has been unusual or out of character in recent months, to contact them.

Superintendent Davies said all information would be treated with the utmost discretion, and anyone identified could be ruled out as the mother without delay.

A police presence will remain in the Bangor area over the coming days, with cordons still in place while officers continue their enquiries.
