40 foot-long Dragon Boats will race in aid of hospice

The St David’s Hospice Dragon Boat Festival is back on Saturday 25th June and promises to be the ultimate team day out!

The colourful charity event held on the shores of Llyn Padarn, Llanberis, is being organised by the local adult Hospice in conjunction with Dragon Boat events and is now open for team bookings.

In its eighth year, the last St David’s Hospice Dragon Boat event took place in 2019 with more than 300 rowers in 18 teams.

The teams were made up of local businesses, schools and groups of friends and family who enjoy a full day of fun, racing head-to-head to try and paddle their way to victory.

The event, which is being kindly sponsored by Dragon Investment Managers Ltd is organised to raise funds for the local charity which each year, needs to raise over £6 million to provide its end-of-life care services across Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey.

Hospice Event’s Coordinator Rhian Jacobs is looking forward to the event, and said: “It’s amazing to finally bring back this fantastic event to Llyn Padarn this summer!

“It’s a great excuse to get your family and friends or work colleagues together in this fun filled event all for raising money for your local hospice, and who knows, you may be crowned the winner of the day!”

“The emphasis throughout the day is on the challenge, team building, fundraising and of course…fun. Everything is supplied on the day just bring your team and supporters to cheer you on!”

Dragon Boat teams consist of a maximum of 20 members. In the boat there are 16 paddling and one banging the drum at any one time.
